The Geography department lost a distinguished friend, colleague and alumnus with the passing away of John Heinrichs on January 11, 2014, due to a hearth arrhythmia. John received his Ph.D. In Geography from CU in 1997, and went on to become a professor at Fort Hayes State University in Kansas, where he taught for 16 years. John absolutely loved the field of geography in all its dimensions, embracing the human, physical, and methodological aspects of the discipline. He loved challenging students and colleagues alike to think differently about the world in which we live, and always sought to bring out the best of those with whom he interacted. More details can be found at:
John will be sorely missed by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him.
